Unprecedented floods have hit Pakistan many are calling it “apocalyptic” a third of the country is now believed to be underwater- causing an estimated 10 billion dollars in damage.
More than one thousand people have been killed by these floods- almost half a million people are now displaced with vast areas cut off from supplies and power. Pakistan’s government has said that more than 33 million people, around 15 percent of the population, have been affected by extreme weather.
Although rains stopped three days ago and floodwaters in some areas were receding, large areas remain submerged and the country’s main rivers are still swollen. Experts and local officials believe man-made climate change is to blame.
