Protests seem to be breaking out all over the world- including in Tunisia in northern Africa.
Thousands of protesters have gathered in the capital to demonstrate against the president- and it’s not just from one group. Political movements that are deeply opposed to each other held parallel demonstrations.
Both groups denounced president Kais Saied who is reversing the democratic progress made since the 20-11 uprising. They say he is staging a coup and attempting to turn Tunisia back into an autocracy – a system of government run by one person with absolute power. The demonstrators also demanded accountability for the country’s economic crisis which has resulted in food and fuel shortages.
