Pregnant woman fights ticket after ‘Roe v. Wade” decision

The recent supreme court ruling to overturn Roe versus Wade. It has some unintended consequences.

A pregnant woman is currently fighting a traffic fine- because she was driving in a carpool lane- she argues her unborn child should now be considered a second occupant in the car.  She was 34 weeks pregnant at the time. The current rules allow drivers to use a high-occupancy lane only if there are two or more people present in a vehicle.

The officer, however, didn’t see it her way.

Even though the state’s penal code recognizes a fetus as a person- the same isn’t true for the state’s transportation code. The mom is now challenging the $275 ticket in court.
