This is the third arrest that has been made as part of an ongoing police investigation called “operation branch form”.
Sturgeon resigned from her post as first minister and Scottish National Party leader in March. A spokesperson for Sturgeon said that she had attended the interview as arranged, expecting to be arrested and questioned.
Her husband Peter Murrell, former chief executive of the Scottish National Party, was also questioned by police at their home before being released without charge. Scotland police officers searched the couple’s home and Scottish National Party headquarters for documents and computers. The investigation is ongoing.
