OPEC has stirred up some controversy this week after snubbing reporters from three major news organizations.
Bloomberg News, Reuters, and the Wall Street Journal were all denied access to a scheduled event in Vienna later this week. Officials from both Bloomberg and Reuters have publicly expressed their disappointment over the decision and said they have reached out to open for clarity on the matter.
Sources close to the situation believe the Saudi energy minister is behind the media exclusion due to growing tensions between open members and Washington over coordinated production cuts which are seen to support Russia’s military operations in Ukraine.
The snub comes just days before open members meet to discuss possible next steps after US crude prices dropped below the $70 Dollars per barrel mark this week.
