European countries are investigating unexplained leaks in two Russian gas pipelines running under the Baltic Sea near Sweden and Denmark. The Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipelines suffered three leaks in a single day which is unprecedented.
Now, that’s Nord stream- not Nordstrom—the white house press secretary recently confused the two. Several European officials said sabotage appeared to be the likely cause, while Russia which built the network did not rule it out. Germany appears to be far less hesitant, however, with officials believing sabotage is virtually the only plausible cause for the leaks.
But who did it? According to the pipeline operator, it is not currently possible to estimate when the gas transport infrastructure will be back up and running.
