Travelers planning to take short flights within France may have to change their plans. The country has prohibited short domestic flights as of yesterday.
According to a government decree, journeys that can be completed in less than two and a half hours by train are not allowed as air travel. Along with this rule, France is also regulating the usage of private jets for short trips as part of its pursuit of making transportation greener and more equitable to its citizens.
According to the transport minister, the country cannot tolerate the wealthy using private planes while the general public makes cost-cutting measures to cope with climate change and energy shortages.
Connecting flights remain uninterrupted by these changes.
