In some cases, energy bills are now three times as expensive as they were just a few months ago.
And the people are not happy.
In France, protestors took their bills and dumped them just outside of the Enedis building- which is the electricity grid operator for most of the country. There are other reports of people voluntarily turning off their electricity in their own homes- because they know they won’t be able to pay the bill when it comes due.
For many families these days, it feels like paycheques are immediately evaporating as inflation- a manufactured crisis– drives up the cost of groceries and fuel, landlords increase rent, and utility bills keep soaring. Inflation in the eurozone jumped to a new all-time high of 9 percent, fueled by rising energy costs.
