China feels it was subjected to a period of foreign intervention they call the “century of humiliation”.
According to an article in Politico, president Xi is fixated on ending China’s century of humiliation” and he apparently wants China to “emerge as the greatest power on earth, and he fears the us is equally determined to do everything it can to ensure he fails”
During the last century, foreign powers, such as Britain and France, imposed unequal treaties on China that granted them privileges like extra territory and exclusive trading rights. This was accompanied by military conflicts such as the burning the Summer Palace of the Qing Dynasty in 1860.
These events had a profound impact on Chinese society and politics, leading to the rise of nationalist ideologies that sought to restore Chinese sovereignty. And a civil war between 1917 and 1949. The communist party saw itself as the driving force behind China’s recovery from its past suffering and humiliation, bringing it to where it is today.
The one-hundred-year plan was passed down to the Chinese government from the USS after the fall of the Soviet Union. China claims it is not necessarily seeking global hegemony, but rather a return to its rightful status after its decline in past centuries.
Intelligence information and UNN sources say otherwise. A copy of the one-hundred-year plan shows China is absolutely looking to crash the US and become the world’s power center. A title which does not exist in a multipolar world.
