A Bill in California aimed to prevent “covid misinformation”- also known as the truth is one step closer to becoming reality.
On Monday the California legislature approved a bill that would punish doctors for spreading false information about covid19 vaccinations and treatments.
The law would designate spreading false or misleading medical information to patients as “unprofessional conduct”. The medical board of California could then suspend or revoke a doctor’s license to practice medicine in the state.
The American medical association and other medical groups claim misinformation has worsened the impact of the pandemic, resulting in thousands of unnecessary hospitalizations and deaths.
The Bill now goes to California Governor Gavin Newsom, he has three weeks to sign the legislation and has not yet taken a public position on it.
