More covid lockdowns in China are making many tourists in the area angry.
Tourists have been filmed confronting armed guards in full hazmat suits after an entire airport in the province of Yunnan was locked down.
Officers armed with guns and shields moved to push back crowds of people who have been left stranded by the lockdown- which was introduced after 61 covid infections were reported in the area.
Authorities say they are trying to keep a tight lid on infections as political tensions rise ahead of the party congress, a meeting of the party elite, in mid-October. President Xi Jinping is expected to secure a precedent-breaking third term.
Xi has made “COVID Zero” a cornerstone of his leadership, a policy that has seen entire cities closed down for months under strict lockdowns to completely eradicate infections. It is thought that hundreds of citizens who traveled for the national holiday could be stranded by the new restrictions.
