The raid, which occurred near the town of Laiza in Kachin State, also caused injuries to 59 people, according to a local activist.
Adding to the human toll, local sources have reported 19 adults and 13 children from the camp among the deceased. The violence has been condemned by the human rights minister of the national unity government, who described the attack as a “war crime” on social media.
The military’s actions have caused significant distress and displacement among the local population, with hundreds of thousands forced from their homes due to indiscriminate air raids, artillery shelling and arson.
