A deadly shooting occurred on Monday at a Nashville Christian elementary school, leaving seven people dead.
The shooter has been identified as 28-year-old Audrey Hale, a former student at the school. According to witnesses, Hale entered the building through a side door and fired multiple shots with an assault rifle prior to entering without anyone noticing. Nashville police stated that the attack lasted approximately 14 minutes, with shots being fired on both the first and second floors of the school. In addition to this, police had also discovered maps of the school and detailed writings in Hale’s possession which indicated her plans for the attack.
The tragedy took place while First Lady Jill Biden was speaking at the League of Cities Conference in Washington DC. Biden expressed her condolences in her prewritten speech, reading from a teleprompter.
In response to the tragic incident, vigils have been occurring all over Nashville on Monday evening in memory of those lost in the attack.
